The goal of our mold consulting program is to ensure that any mold is dealt with safely. Our professionals identify and address environmental health and safety issues related to mold and water intrusion.
While mold is present everywhere in the outdoor environment, active indoor mold growth requires moisture. Active-growing mold damages the material it lives on, thereby impairing structural integrity. We work to identify impacted areas, assess related contaminants, characterize potential exposures and occupation risks, as well as provide recommendations for remediation.

All samples are examined by a licensed analyst from an independent third-party laboratory which is accredited by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and takes part in the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP).
Health Effects of Mold
Although indoor mold may be unsightly, the potential health risks are far more severe. Mold can cause disease in humans by a variety of biological mechanisms. Prolonged exposure to damp and moldy environmental may significantly impact health.
Studies by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) have found that damp indoor environments are associated with upper respiratory tract and nasal symptoms, the exacerbation of asthma, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. In some cases, exposure to mold can be life-threatening, especially for those who are immune-compromised and living with chronic lung illnesses.
This service is generally intended for property owners undergoing renovations or contractors during abatement projects. All air sampling is completed by our certified Air Sampling Professionals (ASP).
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that personnel air monitoring be conducted on 25% of all workers during abatement. To maintain acceptable indoor air quality standards, MEC can perform air monitoring for you and provide you with a project log containing air monitoring reports.
